(From He-man.org ) Today I' ll be talking about one of the least known parts of the Masters of the Universe world: He-Ro and the Land of Legend, an unreleased Filmation TV series strongly connected to the scraped Motu spin-off line " The Powers of Grayskull". Many Motu fans are aware of this cancelled spin-off, but for those who aren't, I'll go over it quickly. The line was set to debut under the title " The Powers of Grayskull " and have He-Man and She-ra's wizard ancestor He-Ro be the main character. The toys were planned to be released in 1987, but were eventually scraped. Despite being cancelled before it even began, five toys from the line did make it onto store shelves: the three dinosaurs, Tyrantisaurus Rex, Turbodactyl, and Bionatops, as well as the two giants Tytus and Megator who were only released in Italy. A few weeks ago, along with Lynx-O and Bengali, I was able to obtain a long time grail of mine: an LJN Pumyra figure. Pumyra is one of the rarer figures in the line, and also one of my favorite Thundercats, so I decided to review her today, before moving on to Bengali next weekend. As usual, I'll be reviewing the figure in three categories: design, painting, and price. Let's dive in! Design: The design of this figure is alright, but the head mold is quite strange looking. Due to the white streak in her hair and the angry expression on her face, Pumyra looks a little like the Thundercats version of the Bride of Frankenstein. Other than that, the mold is quite well done. The red rope around the figure, as well as the choker and bracelet are both nice touches. Like most other Thundercats figures, Pumyra has a lever on her back that makes her arm swing up when pushed. Encouraged by the massive success of their line of 3.75 inch boys action figures, Hasbro set out to make something in the same vein but in the fantasy genre. Thus, in 1987, Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, was born.   Considering how popular G.I Joe had been, and the fact that wave 2 was 33% larger than wave 1, sales couldn't have been that awful. The property also had a Toy line, TV show, and comic series. It seemed that Visionaries was headed straight to the top, which leads to the question: what happened? Whenever I'm watching a TV show or movie, it always thrills me to catch a "blink and you'll miss it" moment in which the writers or animators have thrown in a reference to something not many people are familiar with. Today, I'll be recounting eight times when 80s toys have had a brief cameo in pop culture. 1. The Twilight Zone---Monsters! If you look very closely at the beginning of the 1986 Twilight Zone episode "Monsters!"   you can spot Moss Man and Skeletor standing on a shelf. It's possible that the director intentionally picked these two figure as the boy who owns them is obsessed with classic movie type monsters. (From Youtube.com ) 2. This weekend I was lucky enough to add the Thundercats figures Pumyra, Bengali, and Lynx-O to my collection. Each of these figures are incredible and I'll be reviewing all of them at some point but today I am going to start with Lynx-O. I'll be reviewing him the same way as I did Lion-O last week, talking about the design, painting, and price of the figure, so let's begin! Design: Lynx-O has a great design; the sculpting looks great and the figure is a great representation of him in the cartoon. One of the best aspects of this figure is that he goes perfectly with all of the wave 1 Thundercats. Although he was released years apart from Lion-O, Tygra, Cheetara, and Panthro, he fits in with them as if they were designed side by side. One interesting aspect of this figure is the arm swinging function. Most Thundercats figures have a small lever on their back that when pushed, causes an arm to swing forward.
